As work continues towards the development of a new State Aquatic Centre at Marion in South Australia, Adelaide City Council is repositioning the Adelaide Aquatic Centre as one of the major leisure destinations within the state. Set in the picturesque North Park Lands, only minutes from the CBD, the Adelaide Aquatic Centre offers an exciting aquatic and lifestyle experience that is set in a tropical rainforest environment. Catering to 700,000 visitors per year the Adelaide Aquatic Centre is truly an icon within South Australia. ![]() Work completed over the past two years includes: Flooring Upgrade The centre spent nine months upgrading 3500 square metres of flooring. The high quality tiles were laid around all pools and the main foyer entrance area. The tiles have been very well received by the general public. Initially the cleaning of all these tiles was a real challenge but due to the dedication and commitment of the poolside team, a professional cleaning routine has successfully been implemented. Changing Rooms All changing room facilities were completely gutted and re-tiled with all toilets and tap hardware replaced. This project has pleased many visitors to the Centre who now enjoy modern and extremely clean facilities. Swim Shop A new dedicated and professionally merchandised swim shop was build at the main entrance to the centre. The merchandising of the store is clean, modern and user friendly. The Adelaide Aquatic Centre Swim Shop is able to stock the latest range of swim wear that is available 12 months of the year. Customer Service Centre The centre has established a devoted Customer Service Centre that is very modern, warm and welcoming. The Customer Service Centre is a one stop shop that caters for swim school enrolments, membership sales and renewals, and general customer information. The service centre has become the heart beat for the centre with great service delivered throughout the day. Health Club Over the past year the centre has focused a lot of its time and energy towards the development of the Health Club. The club has been doubled in size and now boasts five 106cm plasma screens, surround sound system, cardio theatre, free weights area, circuit room and two consultation rooms. Personal training and massage have recently been introduced as additional services. Pools and Swim School With all these changes it would be remiss not to mention the outstanding work carried out by the Aquatic and Swim School teams. Swim school increased in numbers and this was achieved whilst the floor retiling was in operation. Pool operations never missed a beat, carnivals continued, swim programmes progressed and the general public enjoyed their daily dose of H20. Major changes, but all in a days work. The Adelaide Aquatic Centre has had an extremely busy two years and is now a modern, vibrant and exciting leisure destination for many South Australians, interstate and international visitors. The centre’s utilisation of space and diversification of activities has laid the foundation for the centre’s future success. This combined with the team’s focus on achievement, collaboration, innovation, integrity and customer commitment will ensure the centre continues to be South Australia’s number one leisure destination. |
