| Where do I find NSW Practice Note 15? |

The Practice Note is primarily concerned with swimming pools on public land and beaches, although it is also relevant for other waterways under council control that are used by the public, such as rockpools, sea baths, estuaries and lakes. The Local Government Act 1993 does not prescribe any minimum requirements for water safety. However, in recognition of the priority placed by the NSW Government on ensuring that beaches, public swimming pools and other waterways are safe for all users, the Department of Local Government has prepared this Practice Note to assist councils to carry out their water safety functions. Councils are encouraged to seek independent legal advice if they are unsure of their water safety responsibilities. To download a copy of Practice Note 15 click here. |
